Meet THE doctor

Dr Praveen Yoganathan is a Psychiatry Registrar & Cannabis Clinician based in Melbourne, Victoria.

Dr Praveen has always had an inherent interest in exploring the complexities of the human mind and understanding individuals on a more complex and multifaceted level. This passion led him to pursue specialisation in the field of psychiatry and he is currently a trainee of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and completing his Master of Psychiatry at Melbourne University.

Dr Praveen graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery, practicing in Brisbane before returning to his home city of Melbourne. He has gained extensive clinical exposure working across a broad range of specialties including general medicine, rehabilitation medicine, chronic pain clinics and aged care. He has also worked in multiple areas of Psychiatry including, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Adult Mental Health and Older Adult Mental Health. Praveen is committed to providing holistic care which is customised to the unique needs of each individual patient, taking into account their distinctive characteristics and circumstances. Praveen is an advocate for the use of a broader range of treatments including natural medicines, therapy, meditation and exercise rather than relying on conventional medications alone.

Outside of work, Dr Praveen can be found at the gym, rock climbing, playing video games, traveling and spending time with friends and family.  

Authorised Prescriber
An Authorised Prescriber (AP) is a doctor that has already received authority from the Therapeutic Goods Association (TGA) to write medical cannabis prescriptions which means you’ll experience none of the wait time associated with other cannabis access pathways, such as the SAS pathway.
