What is an Authorised Prescriber?
An Authorised Prescriber is a medical practitioner who has approval to prescribe certain medicines that aren’t listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG), where clinically appropriate.
This approval allows doctors to prescribe these treatments directly to patients under their care, without needing to apply for separate approvals each time. For patients, this can mean a smoother, more efficient consultation and prescribing process.
At Polln, our doctors are either Authorised Prescribers or work within established authorised prescribing frameworks. This helps ensure your care is delivered safely, ethically, and with fewer administrative delays — while still following all Australian regulatory requirements.
If you have questions about how authorised prescribing works for your care, your Polln doctor can explain this during your consultation.
