How do I get a medical card in Australia?

Unlike patients in the USA and certain other countries, Australian patients do not need (and will not receive) a medical card in order to access their prescription natural medicine.

Instead, to access prescription natural medicine, Australian patients simply need to obtain a script from an authorised prescriber or qualified healthcare professional. Your legal prescription enables you to access the specific medications that have been prescribed for you. As a prescription natural medicine patient with a valid, legal prescription, you are entitled to carry your medication with you between all states and territories around Australia. 

While you won’t need a medical card in Australia when travelling with your medication, we do recommend keeping your medications in their original packaging with the pharmacy label attached. We also recommend carrying a photo ID that matches the name on the pharmacy label.
